Puzzle of the day
Friday 16 October 2026. Checkmate in 2. Black to play.
Find a checkmate in two moves. Start with a check.
Show the answer
Queen to a3, check (Qa3+). White plays king to b1. Queen to b2: checkmate! (Qb2#)

A new puzzle every day
Each day has its own theme: checkmates on Monday and Friday, winning a piece on Tuesday, forks on Wednesday, pins on Thursday, the back row on Saturday and making a queen on Sunday. Every puzzle is a real position from Lichess, checked by a chess engine so the answer is the one good move.
